RAI British White Cattle
The Gentle Breed
Welcome to the home of RAI British White cattle! This is a rare breed of British cattle that are very easy to have around. You don't have to be a very experienced cattleperson to enjoy this breed as they are very docile animals and easy to raise.
Our farm is located in Hallock, Minnesota, where temperatures can get pretty cold. These cattle can tolerate extreme cold and extreme hot weather. We have been in the cattle business for around 35+ years. Our farm is a Century Farm and we average 60-80 head of cattle in our herd. Calving starts the first part of March and by the end of May most of the herd is out on pasture until late fall.
How we decided on British White Cattle: Robert was looking to pick up a second registered breed to go with the Polled Herefords he had. He looked at the Black Angus, but wasn't impressed with their temperament. He liked the temperament of the Polled Herefords and wanted to make sure he dealt with cattle that were easy to handle by himself, if necessary. He saw an article in a local farm publication about the British White breed and a farmer who was located a little over two hours from us. He was excited about the fact that they were another British breed and had a temperament very similar to the Polled Herefords. He bought a bull first and later that fall attended a sale and purchased a cow/calf pair and two open heifers. The herd has expanded from there.
